    The Lumbo-Sacral Complex

Low back pain is one of the most debilitating and costly epidemics in industrialized society, comprising over 25% of all outpatient physical therapy visits with a notable increase expected over the next 15 years. Consequently, this course has been designed to provide an evidence-based approach to the evaluation and treatment of lumbosacral dysfunction. This two day lab intensive course incorporates medical screening procedures, differential diagnosis, muscle energy techniques, functional exercise prescription, mobilization and manual therapy of the lumbosacral complex. Evaluation and treatment is approached as a systematic process utilizing clinical reasoning and scientific evidence. Significant lab time allows each attendee to process, practice, and polish intervention techniques under the guided supervision of experienced manual therapists. The end result is the ability to immediately apply new skills upon return to the clinic.

      The Cervico-Thoracic Complex

Neck pain is present in a large portion of the population. Treatment of these patients can often be difficult, particularly when specific causative structures cannot clearly be defined. Attempting to treat neck pain without an attempt to classify the patient can lead to inconsistent outcomes and frustration for both the patient and clinician. Guiding strategies can help improve patient outcomes and lead the clinician based on the most appropriate evidence-based interventions. This seminar will help clinicians identify common problems associated with neck pain as well as appropriate functional treatments. Evaluation procedures will also be introduced to group patients in treatment categories. This classification system will assist the clinician in determining which patients will most benefit from specific treatment interventions and improve outcomes. Finally, eclectic functional treatment interventions will be covered including stabilization, manual techniques, and pain management strategies. Corrective home exercises will also be reviewed. Participants will walk away with practical and functional treatment techniques that can be implemented with their patients the very next day.
