Charles Thigpen, PT, PhD, ATC
is an Assistant Professor in the Depts. of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at the University of North Florida
in Jacksonville, FL. He completed his doctoral work at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in the Division
of Human Movement Science. His research area of focus is the orthopedic shoulder. His clinical practice focuses
on the evaluation and treatment of the shoulder complex and sport specific injuries of the upper extremity.
Chuck remains very active in the National Athletic Trainers Association and the APTA through teaching and clinical services.
He is an experienced educator and clinician having presented nationally in the areas of biomechanics, rehabilitation of the shoulder and sports medicine of the upper extremities. His publications and clinical specialties include rehabilitation and manual therapy of the upper extremity, sports medicine and biomechanics. Chuck is a clinician, researcher and educator, and considered to be one of the leading therapists in the evaluation and treatment of the orthopedic shoulder in the country.
